Blog Post: Steve Hargis Honored as CRE Service Provider of the Year

Woods Bagot’s very own, Steve Hargis, Principal and Global Consulting Leader, will be honored this month at the CoreNet Northern California Chapter Corporate Real Estate Awards Dinner as the Service Provider of the Year.

CoreNet is a 10,000-member global professional organization, one that continues to be an extremely influential platform for our Workplace Interiors and Architecture Sectors. We are especially delighted that Steve’s co-honoree this year will be Woods Bagot client, Jim Morgensen, the Global Real Estate Executive at LinkedIn.

For each of the past 19 years, the CRE Awards have celebrated two local leaders in the Corporate Real Estate industry. One award is bestowed upon an End User and the other is given to someone who falls within the Service Provider category, which includes project managers, brokers, developers, contractors, furnishings vendors, architects and strategists. As the recipient of The 2016 Service Provider Award, Steve is recognized for a career that has significantly impacted and advanced the profession. He has worked tirelessly across disciplines to build relationships, goals and values, while raising the bar for all industry contributors and breaking down the traditional barriers that separate competitors.

“For two decades, CoreNet has provided me a meaningful way to connect with clients, prospects, and partners outside the confines of a project,” said Steve. “We are a global community of peers passionate about advancing the built environment and its ability to impact organizations.”

Leveraging previous architecture and interior design careers in Houston, New York, and Mexico City, Steve moved to the Bay Area in 1995 to assume a lead role in what was then the new professional practice area of workplace. The formative work accomplished for clients like Sun Microsystems, Cisco, and Nortel has provided a foundation for global companies to redefine how they plan, design, and operate facilities. Steve has been a champion for maximizing employee experience for the past two decades and is a firm believer in the power of place to enrich our lives – design takes a key role in creating organizational cultures and enabling the creative process. Steve developed and taught CoreNet’s first professional development course on workplace strategy. Twenty years later, that course continues to be taught today as a key part of the MCR (Master of Corporate Real Estate) curriculum at CoreNet. He served a total of eight years on the Northern California Chapter leadership team, including the position of President, as well as three years on the CoreNet Global Board of Directors. The key benefit for all of us around committing to deep involvement within our industry’s professional organizations is evidenced in the broad global network of relationships that Steve has developed as well as the significant revenue, reputation and good-will benefits achieved over the years. The awards dinner will take place on November 17th at the Westin St. Francis near Union Square in San Francisco. Joining Steve in celebrating this success will be 675 friends, industry peers, studio colleagues, clients and family. We are thrilled to congratulate Steve on receiving this honor!
